Definition:Insulin secretion by pancreatic beta-cells is an important aspect of glucose homeostasis. A major component of glucose-stimulated insulin secretion is represented by the route dependent on the ATP-sensitive potassium channels. However, other contributions are also likely to promote insulin secretion.
