Kynurenine aminotransferases

The irreversible transamination of kynurenine (KYN) to kynurenic acid (KYNA) is carried out by kynurenine aminotransferases (KATs). The four enzymes belong to the alpha family of pyridoxal 5’-phosphate (PLP)-dependent aminotransferases and are assigned to fold type I. For details check PMID 19826765. The genes are listed with aliases in parentheses, full names and links to gene report pages:

Kyat1 (Ccbl1, Gtk, Kat1, KatI) – kynurenine aminotransferase 1
Aadat (KAT/AadAT, Kat2, KATII, KYAT2) – aminoadipate aminotransferase
Kyat3 (Ccbl2, Kat3, KATIII) – kynurenine aminotransferase 3
Got2 (ASPATA, FABP-1, KAT4, KATIV, KYAT4) – glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 2
