Predicted to enable structural molecule activity. Acts upstream of or within protein localization to axon. Located in COPI-coated vesicle. Is expressed in cerebral cortex. Orthologous to human COPE (COPI coat complex subunit epsilon). [provided by Alliance of Ge
Predicted to enable DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific and RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in positive regulation of connective tissue replacement. Acts upstream of or within cytokine-mediated signaling pa
thway. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; early conceptus; embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; and peripheral nervous system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in prostate cancer and stomach cancer. Orthologous to human KLF6 (KLF transcription factor 6). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]
This gene encodes a member of the vasopressin/oxytocin family and preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate multiple protein products. These products include the neuropeptide hormone arginine vasopressin, and two other peptides, neurophysin 2 and cope
ptin. Arginine vasopressin binds to vasopressin receptors and functions as a vasopressor, to constrict blood vessels and increase blood pressure, and as an antidiuretic, to reduce the production of urine. Neurophysin 2 functions as a carrier protein in the transport of arginine vasopressin. This gene is present in a gene cluster with the related gene oxytocin on chromosome 2.
