Protein Kinase A complex
The holoenzyme PKA complex is a heterotetramer composed of two regulatory and two catalytic subunits. There are two type I and two type II regulatory subunits. Humans have three genes for the catalytic subunit; rodents express only two. The genes for the regulatory and catalytic subunits are listed with aliases in parentheses, full names and links to the gene report pages (one link is to the human gene report page):
Prkar1a (RIIA, Pkr1) – protein kinase cAMP-dependent regulatory subunit alpha
Prkar1b – protein kinase cAMP-dependent regulatory subunit beta
Prkar2a – protein kinase cAMP-dependent type 2 regulatory subunit alpha
Prkar2b – protein kinase cAMP-dependent type 2 regulatory subunit beta
Prkaca (PKCA1) – protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit alpha
Prkacb – protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit beta
PRKACG (KAPG, PKACg) – protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit gamma
