Dkk members
The Dickkopf family comprises Dkk1-4 and a Dkk3- related gene, Dkkl1. Of these, Dkk1, 2 and 4 play a role in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. They bind to and inhibit the Lrp5 and 6 co-receptors; Dkk2 may also exert an activating role. In addition to Lrps, Dkk proteins bind to two other receptors – Kremen 1 and 2 – and the interaction potentiates the ability of Dkk to inhibit Wnt signaling. Dkk1, 2 and 4 are listed with aliases in parentheses, full names and links to gene report pages:
Dkk1 (Dkk-1, dickkopf homolog 1 (Xenopus laevis)) – dickkopf WNT signaling pathway inhibitor 1
Dkk2 (Dkk-2, dickkopf homolog 2 (Xenopus laevis)) – dickkopf WNT signaling pathway inhibitor 2
Dkk4 (Dkk-4, dickkopf homolog 4 (Xenopus laevis)) – dickkopf WNT signaling pathway inhibitor 3
