GENE - TERM ANNOTATION REPORT

RGD ID: 1565523
Species: Rattus norvegicus
RGD Object: Gene
Symbol: Lsm11
Name: LSM11, U7 small nuclear RNA associated
Acc ID: GO:0006398
Term: mRNA 3'-end processing by stem-loop binding and cleavage
Definition: Any mRNA 3'-end processing that involves the binding to and cleavage of a stem-loop structure. For example, histone mRNAs contain a highly conserved stem-loop sequence at the 3' end of the mRNA with a 6 base pairs (bp) stem and a 4-nt loop. The mRNA is cleaved between these two elements, after the fourth or fifth nucleotide, which is typically an adenosine.
Definition Source(s): GOC:mah, GOC:tb, PMID:17998288
Note: Use of the qualifier "multiple interactions" designates that the annotated interaction is comprised of a complex set of reactions and/or regulatory events, possibly involving additional chemicals and/or gene products.
