Nr3c1 directly, by binding to GREs or in some cases negative GREs, or indirectly via protein-protein interactions positively or negatively regulates the expression of many genes. A powerful immunoregulator, Nr3c1 enhances the expression of anti-inflammatory proteins while repressing the expression of pro-inflammatory ones [for more details, check PMIDs 21224015 and 21198556].
