Munc proteins

The Munc proteins are SNARE accessory factors. Stxbp1, known as Munc18a, and Unc13a, known as Munc13, can associate with Stx1a but the exact role they play in SNARE assembly is not fully understood. The two accessory factors are listed with aliases in parentheses, full names and links to gene report pages:

Stxbp1 (Munc18-1, Unc18) – syntaxin binding protein 1

Unc13a (Munc13-1) – unc-13 homolog A
