GENE - TERM ANNOTATION REPORT

RGD ID: 621081
Species: Rattus norvegicus
RGD Object: Gene
Symbol: Tgm2
Name: transglutaminase 2
Acc ID: GO:0007200
Term: phospholipase C-activating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway
Definition: A G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway in which the signal is transmitted via the activation of phospholipase C (PLC) and a subsequent increase in the intracellular concentration of inositol trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG). IP3 regulates the opening of calcium channels in intracellular calcium store, leading to the release of calcium into the cytosol. Calcium and DAG activate protein kinase C (PKC), which in turn activates downstream effectors.

Note: Use of the qualifier "multiple interactions" designates that the annotated interaction is comprised of a complex set of reactions and/or regulatory events, possibly involving additional chemicals and/or gene products.
