Definition:The pathway of cilostazol-interaction and of the biochemical or physiological responses to drug. The drug is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 3. The increase in cyclic AMP (cAMP) and subsequent increase in active protein kinase A (PKA) leads to inhibition of platelet aggregation. Genetic variations can cause differences in the response of the organism to the drug.
