Transitive Annotation Pipeline

Authors: RGD, AUTOMATED  PIPELINES
Citation: Automated assignment of GO, PW and RDO ISS annotations to Chinchilla, Squirrel, Bonobo and/or Dog genes from Human gene annotations
RGD ID: 9068941

All Gene Ontology (GO) annotations for human genes housed at the Rat Genome Database (RGD, https://rgd.mcw.edu) are automatically assigned to the orthologous chinchilla, squirrel and bonobo genes, and Pathway Ontology (PW) and RGD Disease Ontology (DO) annotations are assigned to the orthologous chinchilla, dog, squirrel and bonobo genes. Human-to-species orthologs are loaded into RGD from ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/gene/DATA/gene_orthologs.gz for chinchilla, bonobo and squirrel. Dog orthologs are loaded primarily from ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/genenames/hcop/human_all_hcop_sixteen_column.txt.gz. Annotations for the non-human orthologs are given the evidence code "ISS" (Inferred from Sequence or Structural Similarity; for more information about this evidence code and how it is used, go to the GO Consortium evidence code documentation at http://www.geneontology.org/GO.evidence.shtml). The original annotations for human genes are assigned via manual curation of the literature by RGD curators or are imported via automated pipelines from various sources such as the GO Consortium (GO), or OMIM, CTD and ClinVar (RDO).
