CLINICAL MEASUREMENT - ANNOTATIONS

The Clinical Measurement Ontology (CMO), Measurement Methods Ontology (MMO), and Experimental Condition Ontology (XCO) are currently being developed at the Rat Genome Database. For more information about these vocabularies please see Shimoyama et al. Three ontologies to define phenotype measurement data. Front Genet. 2012;3:87. Definition:Left ventricle end-systolic wall stress (LVES-WS)is calculated measurement of the force acting against the left ventricle wall at the endo of end of systole, the period of contraction of the heart when the blood is forced from the ventricles into the pulmonary artery (right ventricle) and the aorta (left ventricle). It is calculated by multiplying ventricular pressure by ventricular radius and dividing by 2 times the wall thickness. Commonly referred to as Law of Laplace (PMID: 2198115)
Synonyms:related_synonym: LVES-WS
