There are three organ-specific, isoforms of Cpt1 in mammals: the liver (Cpt1a), muscle (Cpt1b) and brain (Cpt1c) enzymes. Of these, the liver and muscle enzymes are involved in the fatty acid beta degradation pathway. The two genes are listed with aliases in parentheses, full names and links to the gene report pages:
Cpt1a – carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A
Cpt1b – carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1B
