Finding Marker/SSLP information Using the General/Keyword Search

Current Marker Search

1. The general RGD search available at the top of each page is a quick route to finding SSLPs. Use this box to search by marker symbol, alias, position, UniSTS ID and more.  Click here for more information about how the Keyword Search works.

2. The dropdown list from Data in the main menu provides a link to the Marker Search tool.

1. Using the general search bar at the top of each RGD page, entering a marker ID and clicking the magnifying glass search icon will generate a search results report. Clicking on any of the numbers will open another results page for that category. For example, clicking on the number “20” here will open a list of rat strains in which that marker is denoted for the congenic region. Clicking on the “1” will open the marker SSLP report page.

Using the Marker Search Tool

RGD’s current marker search tool has been updated to incorporate the most commonly used search capabilities.

  • Enter a search term in the Keyword search box.  This can be a specific marker symbol or part of a symbol with an asterisk (*) as a wildcard. It can also be a gene symbol and the search will result in SSLP records for that gene.

  • Users can limit the results obtained from the keyword search by specifying a chromosomal location or you can use the position entry boxes to search by position without using a keyword.  To include position information in your search, enter a chromosome number and, if desired, a base pair start and stop position. The search tool uses the most recent assembly available for the species selected.

  • RGD stores data for markers in rat, mouse and human, choose one to perform your search.

Click here to access the Marker Search Tool.

Search Results Page

  • Entering a single SSLP marker in the Marker Search Keyword bar will return a report page listing the search results.

Leaving the keyword bar blank and using the dropdown to select a single chromosome will return a report page for all the markers associated with that chromosome.
Clicking on a marker symbol will open the report page for that marker.

1. Using the boxes to the left of the marker symbols, one can select any number of them and then choose the (2.) Genome Viewer tool, which will open a chromosome chart showing the relative positions of the selected markers

3. There is an Excel Download function for the search results.
