strain_life_disease Hydrocephalics can be detected at 1-2 days of age, and survive for 4-5 weeks. Dilatation of the ventricles is restricted to the lateral ventricles. Hydrocephalus becomes evident in late gestation and is associated with an abnormality of the cerebral aqueduct. Overall, penetrance in this strain is 40% but variable between litters, which may indicate the involvement of environmental factors of yet unknown origin, in addition to genetic factors. 1302443
