MEASUREMENT METHODS - ANNOTATIONS

The Clinical Measurement Ontology (CMO), Measurement Methods Ontology (MMO), and Experimental Condition Ontology (XCO) are currently being developed at the Rat Genome Database. Definition:A scanning technique which directs alternating X-ray energy from two separate sources (high energy and low energy) towards bone at a set frequency. The amount of these x-rays that pass through the bone is measured for each beam and bone mineral density is determined based on the difference of the two transmitted X-ray beams.
Synonyms:related_synonym: DEXA;   DXA;   bone densitometry;   bone density scanning
