Definition:An entwining of a segment of umbilical cord, usually without obstructing fetal circulation and commonly result from fetal slippage through a loop of the cord.
Comment:When the true knot remains tight, it may impede the circulation of the fetus and may result to fetal death in utero especially in labor.
