HUMAN PHENOTYPE - ANNOTATIONS

The Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) is downloaded weekly from http://compbio.charite.de/hudson/job/hpo/lastStableBuild/artifact/ontology/release/hp.obo. The file downloaded is considered the "last stable build" available for the ontology. For more about the HPO, view their website at http://www.human-phenotype-ontology.org/.

Definition:Increased concentration of ferritin in the blood circulation.
Comment:Ferritin is a ubiquitous intracellular protein that stores iron. Ferritin levels measured in serum usually have a direct correlation with the total amount of iron stored in the body, but ferritin levels may also be increased with anemia of chronic disease or in the course of an acute phase reaction.
Synonyms:exact_synonym: Elevated serum ferritin;   High ferritin level;   Hyperferritinaemia;   Hyperferritinemia;   Increased ferritin;   Increased plasma ferritin;   Increased serum ferritin level
