A mitotic cell cycle in which mitosis is completed but cytokinesis does not occur, resulting in a cell containing multiple nuclei each with a chromosomal complement of the original ploidy (usually 2N).
Comment:
Note that this term should be used for naturally occurring instances of mitosis without cytokinesis, e.g. in the tapetum of flowers and in a number of lower eukaryotes; it should not be used for abnormal events such as may occur in cancers.
