Protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type (Ptpn)
Protein tyrosine phosphatases, non-receptor type (Ptpn) are involved in regulation of the Jak-Stat pathway. Ptpn members are listed with aliases in parentheses, full names and links to gene report pages:
Ptpn1 (PTP1B) – protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 1
Ptpn2 (TC-PTP) – protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 2
Ptpn6 (SHP1, Ptp1c) – protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 6. Note that the expression of this protein may be restricted in hematopoietic cells.
Ptpn11 (Shp2, PTP1D) – protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 11. Note that while the protein can inhibit signaling downstream of particular cytokines, it can also function as a positive factor for Jak-Stat by stabilizing JAK2 (dephosphorylation of a particular tyrosine prevents the interaction between JAK2 and SOCS and thus the targeting of JAK2 for degradation).
