Definition:Alterations in the SWI/SNF family mediated pathway of chromatin remodeling are implicated in a number of human cancers that include ovarian, pancreatic and renal, among others. Many mutations are found in Smarca4, one of the two mutually exclusive, ATP-dependent, enzymatic subunits or Arid1a subunit.
