The Clinical Measurement Ontology (CMO), Measurement Methods Ontology (MMO), and Experimental Condition Ontology (XCO) are currently being developed at the Rat Genome Database. For more information about these vocabularies please see Shimoyama et al. Three ontologies to define phenotype measurement data. Front Genet. 2012;3:87. Epub 2012 May 28 or contact us (http://rgd.mcw.edu/contact/index.shtml).
Any method of measuring the level or concentration of insulin in a sample of serum, the clear liquid that separates from blood after it has clotted completely, i.e. blood plasma from which fibrinogen has been removed. Insulin is the major fuel-regulating peptide hormone produced by the beta cells of the pancreatic islets of Langerhans.
Comment:
For use when the specific method of measuring the hormone, such as ELISA, EIA or RIA, is not given.
