RGD Releases the Infectious Disease Resources Portal |
|
The risk and frequency of infectious diseases around the world are rising, causing pandemics such as swine influenza (H1N1), chikungunya, Ebola, Zika, and the current COVID-19. In addition, millions of people worldwide are infected with Tuberculosis, HIV, and Hepatitis B.
Knowing the importance of these health concerns, RGD is pleased to announce the release of a new disease portal, the Infectious Disease Portal. This portal contains data for diseases by infectious agents, including COVID-19, and facilitates research using RGD tools designed for comparative analyses of diseases, and associated genes, strains, phenotypes, and other ontologies. For instance, users can view and download genes involved in disorders caused by infectious organisms, and view genes in genomic context or compare them across any of eight species (rat, human, mouse, dog, pig squirrel, bonobo, chinchilla). Access is provided to analysis tools, rat strain models of disease, and related resource links. To explore the Infectious Disease Portal, please go to: Infectious Disease Portal RGD has also developed and previously released a separate COVID-19 Resource Page and a COVID-19 Disease Portal that allow users access to annotations (ontologies and genes) for Coronavirus infectious disease in general, and COVID-19 specifically. |
