08/11/2021 – The new rat assembly mRatBN7.2 is default for all RGD pages and tools!

Variant visualizer

RGD is very pleased to announce that the new and improved rat assembly – mRatBN7.2, is now the default for all the RGD tools, such as Variant Visualizer, JBrowse (Genome Browser), Multi-Ontology Enrichment Tool, Gene and Ortholog Location Finder, InterViewer, Gene Annotator, Object List Generator & Analyzer! The new rat assembly is also integrated with all the RGD pages, such as Disease Portal pages and Gene report pages. We would like to thank the Darwin Tree of Life Project at the Wellcome Sanger Institute for generating this assembly. The new assembly contains no gaps between scaffolds and has a scaffold N50 an order of magnitude higher than the previous reference assembly; with just 756 contigs (N50 >29 Mb), its contiguity is comparable to that of reference assemblies for humans and mice. For more information about this assembly, see the NCBI assembly record for mRatBN7.2 and read more.
