11/21 – RGD adds RNA-Seq expression data to rat gene pages

Rat Myh7 Expression Summary Table RGD is pleased to announce the addition of gene expression data to RGD’s rat gene pages, specifically, TPM values from three high-throughput RNA sequencing studies at EBI’s Expression Atlas. Open the new “RNA-SEQ Expression” section of the rat gene pages to view a summary table showing the number of samples from these studies that have expression in high, medium, low or below cutoff ranges in any or all of 16 tissues. Rows for expression levels are color coded to easily distinguish them.

The summary table gives an overview of where that gene is expressed and at what level(s). Click a number in the summary table to view a downloadable details table showing the rat strain, sex, age, tissue and TPM value for each sample having expression in that range. Currently all expression values in RGD are from RNA sequencing data aligned to the Rnor 6.0 assembly, as noted in the table. Click on the “Reference” link to view the RGD reference report, ascertain what additional data that has been curated from that paper and access the full article. A link to view and download all of the expression data for that gene is also available below the summary table.

To explore this new data type at RGD, search for your favorite gene using the keyword search box at the top of this page and scroll down to the Expression section, or click here and open the “RNA-SEQ Expression” bar to view expression data for rat Myh7 (myosin heavy chain 7) a gene known to be involved in multiple cardiovascular diseases and myopathies.

RGD is funded by grant HL64541 from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute on behalf of the NIH.
