Redei, Eva, Ph.D

Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (General Psychiatry) and Neuroscience
Ward Building Room 13-131
303 E Chicago Avenue
Chicago Illinois 60611

Research Interests:
stress hypersensitivity
– depressive disorders
– genetic vulnerability
   – QTL
– neuroendocrinology
– hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid
– hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal
– emotional behavioral tests

Eva Redei’s major interests include the molecular basis of affective illnesses and stress hyperreactivity. To this end, her laboratory has been using animal models and genetic methods. One of their projects uses quantitative trait loci analysis of multiple behavioral and hormonal traits in a genetic animal model of depression. They have identified multiple loci for each traits and are currently analyzing polymorphisms in candidate genes. Dr. Redei is also a co-investigator on the Mutagenesis Center grant (Joe Takahashi, P.I.), where the project characterizes potential mutants showing enhanced or diminished hormonal and behavioral stress-reactivity.

RGD is funded by grant HL64541 from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute on behalf of the NIH.
