Strain: LE-Tg(Pvalb-tTA)15Hio

Symbol: LE-Tg(Pvalb-tTA)15Hio
Strain: LE-Tg(Pvalb-tTA)15
Substrain: Hio
RGD ID: 11041106
Citation ID: RRID:RGD_11041106
Ontology ID: RS:0004167
Also Known As: LE-Tg(mPvalb-tTA)Hio; NBRP Rat No: 0798
Type: transgenic
Available Source: National BioResource Project for the Rat in Japan
Origination: National BioResource Project for the Rat in Japan
Description: background strain #65306; Long-Evans rat #65288; Iar:Long-Evans #65289; Transgene #65306; (1) Parvalbumin (PV) promoter #65306; mouse derived (MGI:97821). PV is calcium-binding protein. (2) tetracycline transactivator (tTA) #65306; Fusion protein of tetracycline repressor (Escherichia coli-derived) and VP16 (Herpes simplex virus-derived). In the absence of Doxycycline (Dox), tTA binds to tetracycline-responsive element (TRE) and expression of TRE-controlled genes can be induced. Vector #65306; pBlueScript (Stratagene), pBACe3.6 (CHORI)
Last Known Status: Cryopreserved Sperm

strain_characteristics tetracycline transactivator(tTA) is expressed in Parvalbumin-positive cells (neurons). In the absence of Dox, tTA binds to TRE and expression of TRE-controlled genes can be induced only in the Parvalbumin-positive cells. Expression of TRE-controlled genes can be repressed by Dox.
