1. A new mutant jaundice rat has been found among the rats of the breeding colony in the Connaught Laboratories. 2. The mutant rats regularly show bilirubinanemia (indirect van den Bergh reaction), jaundice, alcholuria, polyuria and subnormal growth rate. The occasionally show changed erythocyte fragility, microcytosis, and nervous symptoms. 3. Splenectomy does not alleviate the jaundiced condition in the mutant rats.
