Gene: Alpl (alkaline phosphatase, liver/bone/kidney) Mus musculus
Symbol: Alpl
Name: alkaline phosphatase, liver/bone/kidney
Description: Exhibits alkaline phosphatase activity and pyrophosphatase activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to organic cyclic compound; endochondral ossification; and response to antibiotic. Localizes to the extracellular matrix; extracellular membrane-bounded organelle; and plasma membrane. Used to study adult hypophosphatasia; childhood hypophosphatasia; and infantile hypophosphatasia. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in adult hypophosphatasia; childhood hypophosphatasia; hypophosphatasia; infantile hypophosphatasia; and uremia. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; early conceptus; genitourinary system; limb; and skeleton. Orthologous to human ALPL (alkaline phosphatase, biomineralization associated).
Type: protein-coding
RefSeq Status: REVIEWED
