Located in mitochondrial matrix and sarcoplasmic reticulum lumen. Is expressed in several structures, including diaphragm; heart; lung; musculature; and myotome. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Orthologous to human CASQ1 (calsequestrin 1).
