GENE - CHEMICAL INTERACTIONS REPORT

RGD ID: 732271
Species: Homo sapiens
RGD Object: Gene
Symbol: MAPK8
Name: mitogen-activated protein kinase 8
Acc ID: CHEBI:64159
Term: 2-methyl-6-(phenylethynyl)pyridine
Definition: A methylpyridine that coinsists of 2-methylp[yridine bearing an additional phenylethynyl group at position 6. Potent and highly selective non-competitive antagonist at the mGlu5 receptor subtype (IC50 = 36 nM) and a positive allosteric modulator at mGlu4 receptors. Centrally active following systemic administration in vivo. Reverses mechanical hyperalgesia in the inflamed rat hind paw.
Chemical ID: MESH:C121465
Note: Use of the qualifier "multiple interactions" designates that the annotated interaction is comprised of a complex set of reactions and/or regulatory events, possibly involving additional chemicals and/or gene products.
