GENE - TERM ANNOTATION REPORT

RGD ID: 1562326
Species: Rattus norvegicus
RGD Object: Gene
Symbol: Ubr1
Name: ubiquitin protein ligase E3 component n-recognin 1
Acc ID: GO:0071596
Term: ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process via the N-end rule pathway
Definition: The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the breakdown of a protein or peptide covalently tagged with ubiquitin, via the N-end rule pathway. In the N-end rule pathway, destabilizing N-terminal residues (N-degrons) in substrates are recognized by E3 ligases (N-recognins), whereupon the substrates are linked to ubiquitin and then delivered to the proteasome for degradation.
Definition Source(s): GOC:mah, GOC:rb, PMID:19246002, PMID:9112437
Note: Use of the qualifier "multiple interactions" designates that the annotated interaction is comprised of a complex set of reactions and/or regulatory events, possibly involving additional chemicals and/or gene products.
