A cytoplasmic tRNA surveillance pathway that targets mature hypomodified tRNAs, catalyzed by 5'-3' exonucleases Xrn1 (S. cerevisiae/human) and Rat1 (S. cerevisiae) XRN2 human, and regulated by adenosine 3',5' bisphosphate (pAp).
