serum galanin level 
The amount of galanin in a specified sample of serum, the clear liquid that separates from blood after it has clotted completely, i.e. blood plasma from which fibrinogen has been removed. Galanin is a neuropeptide encoded by the Gal gene, that is widely expressed in the brain, spinal cord, and gut of humans as well as other mammals.
