Definition:A prominent compressor muscle found in poisonous snakes that originates in the lower jaw, sweeps around the venom gland, and inserted on the gland's surface. The muscles acts to squeeze the gland and release venom.
Comment:only found in crotaline snakes, and has a spotty distribution within that group
