Term: tranexamic acid drug pathway
Accession: PW:0001786
browse the term
Definition: The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics pathway of tranexamic acid, an inhibitor of enzymes involved in fibrinolysis and as such, effective in the treatment of certain bleeding disorders It is also used in surgery to prevent excessive bleeding. Genetic variations can result in changes in drug availability and can cause differences in the response of the organism to the drug.
