Definition:The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics pathway of abacavir, an anti-viral drug used for the treatment of HIV infection. It belongs to the family of nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Genetic variations can result in changes in drug availability and can cause differences in the response of the organism to the drug.
