Definition:Fibroblast growth factor 23 signaling, a member of the endocrine subfamily of fibroblast growth factor family plays important roles in phosphate homeostasis. It is also important in vitamin D metabolism. The pathway is also referred to as the FGF23-Klotho axis, Klotho representing the obligatory co-receptor family for this subfamily with low affinity for the FGF receptors.
