Definition:A melanocortin dependent system pathway that deviates from what its normal course should be. Mutations in the prohormone gene PMOC and the modifying enzyme PC1 are linked to obesity. Mutations in MC2R receptor and its accessory protein MRAP have been associated with type 1 and 2 familial glucocorticoid deficiency, respectively.
