Definition:Those metabolic reactions involved in the synthesis, utilization and/or degradation of glutathione - a tripeptide that acts as an antioxidant and provides protection against reactive oxygen species. It is also used in the conjugation of xenobiotics and drugs by the phase II biotransformation enzymes.
