Definition:any structural anomaly of the crescent-shaped, ventrally located fold of the embryonic disc at the future cephalic end of the developing embryo; it constitutes the first body fold, and initiates brain, foregut and heart development
Comment:Head fold is properly used to describe the rostrally located, crescent shaped fold of the embryonic disc around the future foregut. However, it is often (and incorrectly) used as a synonym for the ventrally located cephalic neural folds. Take care to select the correct term.
Synonyms:exact_synonym: abnormal headfold morphology
