MAMMALIAN PHENOTYPE - ANNOTATIONS

The Mouse Adult Gross Anatomy Ontology and Mammalian Phenotype Ontology are downloaded weekly from the Mouse Genome Informatics databases at Jackson Laboratories (ftp://ftp.informatics.jax.org/pub/reports/index.html). For more information about these ontologies, see the MGI Publications Page at http://www.informatics.jax.org/mgihome/other/publications.shtml.

Term:abnormal neuron differentiation

Accession:MP:0009937 term browser browse the term
Definition:abnormal growth or development of the cells of the nervous system that receive, conduct, and transmit impulses
Comment:The definition of the previous ID MP:0006008 [abnormal neurogenesis] specified only the growth or development of neurons; this is not the accepted definition of neurogenesis in GO:0022008 or most dictionary resources; these include all cells of the nervous system including glia. A new term of abnormal neuron differentiation was created that matched the definition and MP:0006008 [abnormal neurogenesis] has been merged into it.
Synonyms:broad_synonym: Abnormal neuron morphology
 related_synonym: abnormal neuronal differentiation
 alt_id: MP:0006008
