Definition:greater likelihood of developing tissue injury mediated by immune complexes; generally involves immune complexes formed in the blood via antibodies encountering circulating antigen; Ag-Ab complexes then deposit in tissues (especially blood vessels and glomeruli), induce complement activation, and result in tissue injury
Comment:Examples of this include: Autoimmune diseases: systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren syndrome, scleroderma, and glomerulonephritis.
