Definition:Method using a device designed to follow a predetermined sequence of individual operations repeatedly and essentially without external influence or control to measure the amount of bicarbonate, an anion of carbonic acid in which only one of the hydrogen atoms has been removed, in plasma, i.e. blood from which cells and platelets have been removed.
