A method performed outside the living body, for instance, on isolated cells or tissues, which incorporates the use of light microscopy and histochemistry to produce magnified images. Histochemistry is the microscopic analysis of tissues stained with chemical agents to increase the contrast and aid visualization or to highlight specific substances within the specimen.
