Definition:Emotions are complex psychological states that involve three distinct components: a subjective experience, a physiological response, and a behavioral or expressive response. In an abnormal emotional state, an affected individual shows altered intensity, frequency, or duration of emotional experiences.
Comment:When one is assessing whether an individual has an Abnormal emotional state, emphasis should be placed on the observed clinical phenomena and subjective perceptions of the person, without regard to interpretation of the possibility of causality or context.
