Definition:Thought content disorders are characterized by abnormal beliefs and convictions (that are to be assessed given the culture and personal background of the affected individual).
Comment:Thought content disorders are determined by evaluating the meanings of thoughts. The most prominent thought content disorder seen in schizophrenia is delusions. There are overvalued thoughts at some point between normal thinking and delusion. Obsessions, mystical and metaphysical thoughts also reflect abnormal thought content.
