Definition:Diffusely widened perivascular spaces in the basal ganglia, affecting especially the corpus striatum. Status cribrosum is usually symmetrical, with the perivascular spaces showing CSF signal and without diffusion restriction. The word cribriform means sievelike, with multiple perforations.
