Definition:An unusually severe course of infection with Human norovirus, previously known as Norwalk virus. Norovirus, an RNA virus of the family Caliciviridae, is a human enteric pathogen. Norovirus infection-associated illness may also be more prolonged and severe in immunocompromised individuals and may be associated with remarkably persistent viral excretion in some of these individuals.
