Definition:OBSOLETE. The uptake of a virus into a host cell which occurs via retraction of the viral-bound pilus to bring the virus in contact with the host cell membrane, followed by fusion of the bacteriophage membrane with the host outer membrane.
Comment:This term was obsoleted because it represents the same process as virion attachment to host cell pilus ; GO:0039666.
